Individual Database:

Individual databases are a collection of integrated files are used by one person. Microcomputer users can set up their own individual database using popular database management software. The information is stored on the hard drives of their personal computers. Today the principal database programs are Microsoft Access, Corel Paradox, And Filemaker Pro.

Shared Database:

A Shared Database or company database is shared by the user in one company or organization in one location. The organization owns the database which may be stored on a server such as a mainframe. Users are linked to a database via a local area or a wide area network, the users access the network through terminals or microcomputers.

Distributed Database:

A Distributed Database is stored on different computers in different locations connected by a client/server network. For example, Cisco Systems, which supplies the vast network that connects computers to the internet, the user its worldwide intranet to connect its distributed database, even those located overseas.

Public Databank:

Pubic Databanks are compilations of data that are available to the public. Some public databanks are free-based, such dialog information services, which offers scientific and technical information.
